Who are you?

Name: Adam Tomasiello

Age: 21

School: Duke University

Hometown: Cromwell, Connecticut

Major: Earth/Ocean Science, Markets and Management, Statistical Science

What are you involved in at school?

Head Coordinator for Duke Admissions Tour Guides, President of Duke Club Golf, active member of Sigma Chi Fraternity, Duke Club Racquetball, Intramural Basketball Referee, and of course, Volunteer Traditions Campus Representative

What is your favorite part about being a campus rep?

I came to school in the southeast for the awesome weather and even better golf. In addition to the great gear I get to wear around campus every day, my favorite part of being a campus representative is the greater appreciation I have received for North Carolina. Volunteer Traditions’ products encompass a rich heritage that is omnipresent in the Carolinas and the entire region alike, embodying one of the many reasons I look forward to staying down South after graduation.

What is your favorite VT product?

While I frequently use my camo croakies, NC flag koozie, and NC golf visor, my favorite product is undoubtedly my NC Flag Belt. I became a campus rep in December of 2010. Since I received my first belt then, I have worn one every single day since. I literally only own two belts – a black one for a suit, and a Volunteer Traditions flag belt for everything else.

Tell us your favorite Campus Rep experience. (ok, that one’s not a question)

While it is great waking up and throwing on my Volunteer Traditions gear to wear around campus, Duke is a geographically diverse school, so many students just can’t appreciate or don’t know what the flag represents. My favorite Campus Rep experiences have actually been the times I’ve stepped off campus – whether I’m at the airport or playing golf or even just in downtown Durham. I have received the most positive reactions whenever locals in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area see my belt. That feedback perfectly demonstrates the southern culture and pride that draws me to this incredible part of the country.

Bink’s has been an AWESOME retail partner across Middle Tennessee…Murfreesboro x2, Franklin, Green Hills, and Clarksville! When people call in and ask a question about whether a store carries a specific item, I’m always confident to let them know Bink’s carries all of our items and keeps a good stock. Here’s an example of the setup in the newly opened Downtown Clarksville store. As you can see, we’re blessed to be working with great retail stores.

Name: Zorro Gill

Age: 20

School: Mississippi State University

Hometown: Arlington, TN

School Involvement:

Bulldog Interest Group, Student Association: Athletic Affairs and Parking and Transportation Committees, Bulldog Coalition, Intramurals

Favorite part of being a rep:

I enjoy being able to share the brand with my friends and receiving their positive feedback on our products. Volunteer Traditions and Heritage Line represent products that everyone can relate to, I cannot count the number of times I have been stopped by people who want to compliment my Maroon Mississippi hat. I know their sentiments are genuine too, as I have seen more and more Heritage Line hats around Starkville.

What is your favorite VT product:

The item I reach for first in my wardrobe is without a doubt my khaki Tristar hat. The comfortable fit and easy feel make it ideal for the walk to class or for a night out in Starkville. More importantly it’s the easiest way for me to show state pride for Tennessee while in Mississippi.

Favorite Rep Experience:

The most rewarding experience I have had as a campus rep has been working with the Volunteer Traditions design team and the MSU Interfraternity Council to create a recruitment t-shirt for the Fall of 2012. The t-shirt is made specifically for Mississippi State and it is the first time an IFC shirt has been made available to all Greek organizations to promote recruitment. The work done by both parties resulted in a quality product for my school.

We’d like to officially introduce our spring interns, Glori Thompson and Senwhaa Lim.

Glori is a sophomore at Vanderbilt University double majoring in Human and Organizational Development and Communication Studies. Born and raised in Palmetto, Florida, she is loving life in Nashville surrounded by friendly folks and country music. This summer, Glori is planning on packing up her Volunteer Traditions gear and bringing a little Southern style to France, where she will be studying in Provence.

Senwhaa Lim has spent her whole life in Tennessee, growing up in Memphis and attending college in Knoxville. She is a senior majoring in Communications Studies with a minor in Journalism at the University of Tennessee. She is involved in many campus organizations such as Relay For Life, Delta Gamma, and volunteering at Manor House. Her favorite thing to do is travel. This past summer she studied abroad in France and Belgium, where she learned about international communication and brand management. No matter where she ends up going next, the South will always have a place in her heart.

We are so happy to have Glori and Senwhaa working with us this semester!
