I’m a Southern gal born and bred. I grew up in West Texas, and became a member of the deep South as a Georgia Bulldog in Athens, GA.

I recently made the move to Nashville, TN and I can’t think of any place I’d rather be (besides Sanford Stadium on gamedays.) I have loved learning more about the Southern soul that makes the identity of Nashville. My favorite Vol Trad Texas hat has helped me keep my Texas identity while becoming more Nashvillian.

When feeling homesick I throw on the Heritage line cap and listen to my favorite George Strait lyrics…

“I can’t say I don’t like Tennessee
The people here have all been good to me
So please don’t take offense, if I start to gettin’ tense
It’s just ’cause I can’t see Texas from here”

I think that’s the definition of Southern pride. Knowing your heritage and where you are from, but being open to meeting new folks in where you are going.

I love Volunteer Traditions because it helps me identify with those other southern souls no matter where I may be. Vol Trad gets what it means to be from the South and to have pride for the place you came from or even just appearing to be a local where you are now. The designs are casual enough to wear out for a day of fishing in Bristol, but classy enough to wear to Sunday supper with your family. I like to rep all the places in the South that I love… Texas, Georgia, and i recently added some of the tri state to my collection.

There are so few places anymore where that you wave to your neighbor, antiquing is still an acceptable Saturday morning activity and if it’s not Paula Deen, it’s not a recipe. It’s no secret, I’ll drive over an hour for some good barbecue if I have to! The South has it’s own tradition and what I love the most is the laid-back feel and the friendly demeanor of the cities and their people. And did I mention the food? And the guys in Levi’s? if that is even still cool….

And what true southern girl doesn’t want to throw on her Old South grey cap and go four-wheeling in the mud?

Teaming up with Phi Delta Theta and Belmont University Center for Entrepreneurship, Mason will be speaking on campus for a personal growth Convo this Friday, February 10th in Neely Dining Hall from 10 to 11

Jones started the business while in law school at Tennessee. He built the brand while working a day job until the business had enough cash flow to be able to make the jump to full time entrepreneur. He looks forward to sharing about how to take the idea and the actions of both determining the process of having a product made and implementing the plan to bring the product to market. Discussion topics such as manufacturing, finding a niche market, building a web based business, building grass roots marketing and more will be covered.

We hope to see all of you there!

Volunteer Traditions recently participated in the annual Chi Omega Fashion Show at Vanderbilt University. A group of dignified gentlemen escorted the lovely Chi Omega sisters down the runway sporting Volunteer Traditions ties and belts. One of the Make-a-Wish kids was spotted in a Volunteer Traditions belt! The show raised over $40,000 for the Make-a-Wish Foundation of Middle Tennessee. We are honored to participate in such a great event.
